From what I remember from class nearly 8 years ago Several dogs are available to you to cross the nasty gross river into the afterlife. White dogs refuse to ferry you, they just took a bath. Black dogs won't take you as they just got back from a trip or two, and are ready to get clean again. So, Yellow dog takes you, because they are not clean and not too dirty.
